O Pal\u00e1cio Gresham, observa magistralmente a margem montanhosa de Buda e nessa liga\u00e7\u00e3o, a ponte das correntes testemunha tamb\u00e9m de maneira magn\u00edfica, a travessia que uniu as margens no p\u00f3s guerra.<\/p>\n

Originalmente ocupado pela Casa N\u00e1k\u00f3, um pal\u00e1cio neo-cl\u00e1ssico constru\u00eddo em 1827, a morada id\u00edlica passou por v\u00e1rias transforma\u00e7\u00f5es ao longo dos anos. Em 1880, a Gresham Life Assurance Company, sediada em Londres, adquiriu a propriedade, procurando uma via de investimento legal no meio de regulamentos que proibiam as companhias de seguros de investir em ac\u00e7\u00f5es, mas permitiam o rendimento de rendas. Reconhecendo a necessidade de uma sede mais majestosa, a empresa recrutou os arquitectos locais Zsigmond Quittner e Jozsef Vago para projectarem uma estrutura mais grandiosa. A constru\u00e7\u00e3o do Pal\u00e1cio Gresham teve ent\u00e3o in\u00edcio em 1904, culminando com a sua conclus\u00e3o e inaugura\u00e7\u00e3o em 1907,com o nome Gresham, homenageando o financeiro ingl\u00eas do s\u00e9culo XVI.<\/p>\n

Inicialmente funcionando como espa\u00e7o de escrit\u00f3rios e resid\u00eancia para os executivos da empresa Gresham, o pal\u00e1cio teve destinos variados, incluindo servir como quartel para o Ex\u00e9rcito Vermelho ap\u00f3s a Segunda Guerra Mundial e, mais tarde, como apartamentos durante a era comunista da Hungria. Ap\u00f3s o colapso do regime, em 1990, o governo nacional concedeu o pal\u00e1cio a Budapeste. A tentativa da Oberoi Hotels de gerir um hotel no pal\u00e1cio em 1991 foi frustrada por disputas legais com os residentes, o que levou \u00e0 sua retirada em 1995. Subsequentemente, a Gresco Investments adquiriu a propriedade em 1998, assegurando a aprova\u00e7\u00e3o para a renovar num hotel de luxo, preservando a sua ess\u00eancia Art Nouveau. A Quinlan Private, uma empresa de investimento irlandesa, adquiriu o edif\u00edcio em 2001, iniciando uma extensa remodela\u00e7\u00e3o para restaurar caracter\u00edsticas originais como vitrais e ferragens, culminando na reabertura do hotel em junho de 2004. Atualmente com cento e setenta e nove quartos, dezassete deles suites, o Gresham Palace \u00e9 um testemunho de eleg\u00e2ncia consistente em tantas transi\u00e7\u00f5es hist\u00f3ricas. E isso ainda o torna mais fascinante por isso achar importante partilhar a resili\u00eancia da sua hist\u00f3ria.<\/p>\n

E se tem o selo de uma das marcas hoteleiras que mais admiro no Mundo, \u00e9 sempre na humanidade que consolido \u00e0s melhores mem\u00f3rias de todos os hot\u00e9is por onde passo. It would be impossible to share Budapest without experiencing the jewel in the crown. Nothing less than one of the sublime Art Nouveau postcards of the second city that marked the memories of the Austro-Hungarian Empire.<\/em><\/p>\n

The iconic Four Seasons Hotel Gresham Palace exudes an Edenic setting. And I can see with a magnifying glass the ode to the inspired Secessionism of 1906, where every detail pays homage to important values such as nature, in one of the most fascinating moments in history.<\/em><\/p>\n

This is the Four Seasons Budapest experience: the Gresham Palace, a magnificent building in an equally magnificent coordinate. And if we are blown away by the always impeccable Canadian brand, the building’s grandeur and location make the experience unique, since it is in its details that we consolidate the magnificence of breathtaking Budapest.<\/em><\/p>\n

Whether it’s the unquestionable Four Seasons brand, the tones or the enthusiasm for feeling the soul of one of Europe’s most beautiful cities, the interiors, chandeliers, appliqu\u00e9s, stained glass windows and mosaics are references that elevate me to my all-time favorite decade. And if I dare to imagine my own version of the Belle Epoque, I have brought this experience with me as one of the best trophies from the west bank of the Danube. Gresham Palace masterfully overlooks Buda’s mountainous bank and, in this connection, the Chain Bridge also bears magnificent witness to the crossing that united the banks after the war.<\/em><\/p>\n

Originally occupied by Casa N\u00e1k\u00f3, a neo-classical palace built in 1827, the idyllic abode has undergone several transformations over the years. In 1880, the London-based Gresham Life Assurance Company acquired the property, looking for a legal investment route in the midst of regulations that prohibited insurance companies from investing in shares, but allowed annuity income. Recognizing the need for a more majestic headquarters, the company enlisted local architects Zsigmond Quittner and Jozsef Vago to design a grander structure. Construction of Gresham Palace then began in 1904, culminating in its completion and inauguration in 1907, with the name Gresham, paying homage to the 16th century English financier.<\/em><\/p>\n

Initially functioning as office space and a residence for the executives of the Gresham company, the palace had varied destinations, including serving as barracks for the Red Army after the Second World War and, later, as apartments during Hungary’s communist era. After the collapse of the regime in 1990, the national government granted the palace to Budapest. Oberoi Hotels’ attempt to run a hotel in the palace in 1991 was thwarted by legal disputes with the residents, which led to its withdrawal in 1995. Subsequently, Gresco Investments acquired the property in 1998, securing approval to renovate it into a luxury hotel while preserving its Art Nouveau essence. And it was with eighty-five million dollars raised for the renovations that the elevated Four Seasons undertook to oversee the reconstruction and management in 1999. Quinlan Private, an Irish investment company, acquired the building in 2001, beginning an extensive refurbishment to restore original features such as stained glass and ironwork, culminating in the hotel’s reopening in June 2004. Currently with one hundred and seventy-nine rooms, seventeen of them suites, the Gresham Palace is a testament to consistent elegance across so many historical transitions. And that makes it all the more fascinating, so I think it’s important to share the resilience of its history.<\/em><\/p>\n

The pictures will speak for themselves and so will the entire digital journey<\/a>, but I dare say that you can experience the masterfulness of the city of Budapest, but it will never be the same if you don’t pass by the Gresham Palace.<\/em><\/p>\n

In addition to the stunning rooms, the Koll\u00e1zs<\/a> brasserie or the M\u00f9zsa<\/a> bar are experiences that I’ll leave you with in the guide below. Don’t be surprised if at the end of the day you see a ballerina in spikes dancing in the hotel bar, because the Four Seasons always has this motto of surprising the customer. And if it has the seal of one of the most admired hotel brands in the world, it’s always in humanity that I consolidate the best memories of all the hotels I visit. And that’s why the Gresham Palace is special, because the hospitality once again, as you would expect, did not go unnoticed.<\/em><\/p>\n

Budapest is a city from another time, where every street is a page turned in history. And if the city’s energy pulses with an experience between the past and the future, a visit to this idyllic address is a must.
