H\u00e1 moradas no planeta que n\u00e3o se limitam a existir. Elas esperam sempre por quem quer um dia chegar. E de tantas termas que existem no planeta, as de Vals s\u00e3o silenciosamente sublimes. O 7132 Hotel, aninhado numa serena aldeia da Su\u00ed\u00e7a, \u00e9 uma dessas moradas. Aqui, onde as montanhas parecem sussurrar ao vento e a luz dan\u00e7a sobre o quartzito coberto de neve, encontra-se um santu\u00e1rio de arquitectura, beleza, mas, sobretudo, introspec\u00e7\u00e3o.<\/p>\n

There are dwellings on the planet that don’t just exist. They are always waiting for those who want to arrive one day. And of the many spas that exist on the planet, those in Vals are quietly sublime. The 7132 Hotel, nestled in a serene Swiss village, is one such abode. Here, where the mountains seem to whisper in the wind and the light dances over the snow-covered quartzite, you’ll find a sanctuary of architecture, beauty and, above all, introspection.<\/em><\/p>\n

Mais do que um edif\u00edcio que se imp\u00f5e a uma discreta vila montanhosa, o Hotel 7132 \u00e9 uma obra esculpida em pedra e vidro. Aqui as linhas arquitect\u00f3nicas ergueram-se para alcan\u00e7ar o som do sil\u00eancio e para nos relembrar o que significa verdadeiramente o sentido do presente, nos dois sentidos.<\/p>\n

Pensar que este projecto foi criado em 1996 – e continua t\u00e3o actual – fragiliza qualquer opini\u00e3o que possamos ter sobre o edif\u00edcio. E se o tinha em agenda h\u00e1 mais de vinte anos, concebo acreditar que, se o sonho do arquitecto su\u00ed\u00e7o Peter Zumthor era criar o intang\u00edvel, confirmo a frase de Saramago: \u201csempre chegamos onde nos esperam\u201d.<\/p>\n

More than a building that imposes itself on a discreet mountain village, Hotel 7132 is a work sculpted in stone and glass. Here the architectural lines have risen to reach the sound of silence and to remind us of what the sense of the present really means, in both senses.<\/em><\/p>\n

To think that this project was created in 1996 – and is still so current – weakens any opinion we might have of the building. And if I had it on my agenda more than twenty years ago, I can believe that if Swiss architect Peter Zumthor’s dream was to create the intangible, I can confirm Saramago’s phrase: \u2018we always arrive where we are expected\u2019.<\/em><\/p>\n

Dentro deste mosteiro de \u00e1gua, pedra e luz, ergue-se um cora\u00e7\u00e3o. Provavelmente o nosso e o do edif\u00edcio, em osmose, que bate ao ritmo das \u00e1guas imaculadas: as pur\u00edssimas \u00e1guas de Vals. Mais do que um arquitecto, Zumthor \u00e9 um contador de hist\u00f3rias e, com mais de sessenta mil blocos de quartzito local, foi moldado um espa\u00e7o que n\u00e3o apenas visualizamos, mas que sentimos. Que n\u00e3o apenas nos abriga, mas que transforma e resignifica todas as perguntas sem resposta.<\/p>\n

Ao entrar nestas termas intemporais, somos envolvidos por um abra\u00e7o misterioso de um vazio sublime, simplicidade, mas sobretudo grande humildade. A luz natural filtra-se pelas aberturas, criando sombras que dan\u00e7am pelas paredes contempor\u00e2neas, enquanto o som suave da \u00e1gua ecoa como c\u00e2nticos ancestrais. A pedra contrasta com as temperaturas quentes da \u00e1gua e, num instante, tudo o que n\u00e3o \u00e9 essencial dissolve-se num abra\u00e7o que se faz divino e nos d\u00e1 todas as respostas. Ficamos apenas no momento, com a respira\u00e7\u00e3o e um corpo que flutua, leve, como se pertenc\u00eassemos \u00e0 pr\u00f3pria montanha.<\/p>\n

E se a \u00e1gua cura e a alma descansa em cada espa\u00e7o aqu\u00e1tico das termas de Vals, a ode devolve o homem \u00e0 natureza. Nesta obra-prima arquitect\u00f3nica, olhamos para o c\u00e9u como se este estivesse ao alcance da nossa insignific\u00e2ncia, enquanto nas grutas o sil\u00eancio torna-se t\u00e3o toc\u00e1vel que o mundo exterior desaparece. O corpo encontra paz aqui, e sem perguntas o tempo dilui-se numa serenidade que, nestes tempos dicot\u00f3micos, se protege de todos os lugares escuros do mundo.<\/p>\n

Inside this monastery of water, stone and light, there is a heart. Probably ours and the building’s, in osmosis, beating to the rhythm of the immaculate waters: the very pure waters of Vals. More than an architect, Zumthor is a storyteller and, with more than sixty thousand blocks of local quartzite, a space has been moulded that we not only see, but feel. That not only shelters us, but transforms and resignifies all unanswered questions.<\/em><\/p>\n

Upon entering these timeless spas, we are enveloped in a mysterious embrace of sublime emptiness, simplicity, but above all great humility. Natural light filters through the openings, creating shadows that dance across the contemporary walls, while the soft sound of the water echoes like ancient chants. The stone contrasts with the warm temperatures of the water and, in an instant, everything that isn’t essential dissolves in an embrace that becomes divine and gives us all the answers. We remain only in the moment, with our breath and a body that floats, light, as if we belonged to the mountain itself.<\/em><\/p>\n

And if the water heals and the soul rests in every aquatic space of the Vals spa, the ode returns man to nature. In this architectural masterpiece, we gaze at the sky as if it were within reach of our insignificance, while in the caves the silence becomes so touchable that the outside world disappears. The body finds peace here, and without question time dilutes into a serenity that, in these dichotomous times, protects itself from all the dark places in the world.<\/em><\/p>\n

Para os que desejam ver o mundo de outra perspectiva, o Hotel 7132 oferece algo que transcende: um voo de helic\u00f3ptero pelos Alpes. A proposta \u00e9 clara, visitar um glaciar onde apenas se chega de helic\u00f3ptero. Do heliporto privado do hotel, um Airbus EC130, \u00e9 um helic\u00f3ptero monomotor amplamente utilizado para transportes de passeios tur\u00edsticos, por a cabine ser espa\u00e7osa, confort\u00e1vel e com acabamentos inesperadamemte sofisticados.<\/p>\n

E se a experi\u00eancia que n\u00e3o pode ser traduzida em palavras, \u00e0 medida que o helic\u00f3ptero se eleva, o mundo parece expandir-se. Glaciares reflectem a luz do sol, vales escondidos revelam conhecimentos antigos, e os picos cobertos de neve erguem-se como catedrais naturais. \u00c9 f\u00e1cil sentirmos Deus ou sentido do divino nesta experi\u00eancia. E se o convite para contemplar a grandeza da terra de uma perspectiva que recorda a nossa pequenez e, ao mesmo tempo, o chamamento da nossa conex\u00e3o com tudo o que nos rodeia, deparamo-nos com o resgate da ess\u00eancia humana.<\/p>\n

A miss\u00e3o da viagem \u00e9 aterrar num glaciar onde apenas podemos chegar de helic\u00f3ptero em dias de Inverno e, se a op\u00e7\u00e3o \u00e9 respirar um dos ares mais puros do planeta, o convite a deitar-se na neve promete mudan\u00e7a de todas as perspectivas que trazemos das algibeiras escondidas do nosso mundo interior.<\/p>\n

Para momentos verdadeiramente \u00fanicos, o hotel organiza piqueniques nestas moradas remotas, onde a apoteose se encontra com a simplicidade. Conte com provas ao n\u00edvel de estrela Michelin em montanhas intocadas, transformando a experi\u00eancia numa mem\u00f3ria onde a beleza ef\u00e9mera do momento sela o inesquec\u00edvel.<\/p>\n

For those who want to see the world from another perspective, Hotel 7132 offers something transcendent: a helicopter flight over the Alps. The purpose is clear: to visit a glacier that can only be reached by helicopter. From the hotel’s private helipad, an Airbus EC130, a single-engine helicopter widely used for touristic transport, with a spacious, comfortable cabin and unexpectedly sophisticated finishes.<\/em><\/p>\n

And if the experience can’t be put into words, as the helicopter rises, the world seems to expand. Glaciers reflect the sunlight, hidden valleys reveal ancient knowledge, and snow-capped peaks rise up like natural cathedrals. It’s easy to feel God or a sense of the divine in this experience. And if the invitation to contemplate the grandeur of the earth from a perspective that recalls our smallness and, at the same time, the call of our connection with all that surrounds us, we find ourselves rescuing the human essence.<\/em><\/p>\n

The mission of the trip is to land on a glacier that can only be reached by helicopter on winter days and, if the option is to breathe one of the purest airs on the planet, the invitation to lie down in the snow promises to change all the perspectives that we bring from the hidden pockets of our inner world.<\/em><\/p>\n

No pequeno-almo\u00e7o, vai ficar rendido \u00e0 compota de figos com mostarda, mas, sobretudo, a duas receitas tradicionais: O Birnenbrot um p\u00e3o inesquec\u00edvel, em que o interior \u00e9 uma massa feita com peras e figos e a Nusstorte, uma tarte viciante feita com nozes, natas, mel e caramelo. Ambos est\u00e3o dispon\u00edveis para levar, no caf\u00e9 que tamb\u00e9m \u00e9 loja de design e livraria do hotel, a caminho da vila.<\/p>\n

At Hotel 7132, even gastronomy is elevated to a sense of beauty. Each experience is a tribute to what is local, seasonal and carefully selected. In the Michelin-starred 7132 Silver restaurant, the chefs create dishes that tell stories, in a fusion of tradition and innovation that connects us to the gifts of the land.<\/em><\/p>\n

In the 7132 Red, relaxation offers an experience that celebrates the essence of the Alps in a more detached way. The Blue Bar in the hotel lobby is the perfect refuge to end the day, when the soft light and the architecture enveloping us become the ideal space to reflect on the uplift felt in these unforgettable experiences.<\/em><\/p>\n

At breakfast, you’ll fall in love with the fig jam with mustard, but above all with two traditional recipes: the Birnenbrot, an unforgettable bread with a pastry made with pears and figs inside, and the Nusstorte, an addictive tart made with walnuts, cream, honey and caramel. Both are available to take away from the caf\u00e9, which is also the hotel’s design shop and bookshop, on the way to the village.<\/em><\/p>\n

Para descansar, o 7132 Hotel eleva a experi\u00eancia do sono a uma viagem de pura contempla\u00e7\u00e3o. As suites, projectadas por mestres como Kengo Kuma, Thom Mayne e Tadao Ando, s\u00e3o espa\u00e7os que equilibram o conforto com uma simplicidade mon\u00e1stica. Para os mais intensos h\u00e1 ainda o quarto assinado por Zumthor, mas para mim seria muito encarnado.<\/p>\n

As janelas, que se estendem do ch\u00e3o ao tecto, convidam a paisagem alpina a entrar, como se cada amanhecer fosse pintado exclusivamente para n\u00f3s, viajantes do mundo que v\u00eam \u00e0 procura de algo com sentido, neste mundo que parece colapsar. Os materiais naturais, as linhas suaves e a harmonia entre interior e a oaisagem fazem de cada quarto um retiro pessoal onde a palavra luxo \u2013 cada vez mais desadequada \u2013 se encontra com a serenidade.<\/p>\n

O Hotel 7132 n\u00e3o \u00e9 apenas uma morada de paragem. \u00c9 o convite para reflectir e nos perdermos em experi\u00eancias que homenageiam o sentido do belo, para reencontrarmos o que \u00e9 essencial e para descobrirmos que, no meio das montanhas, somos t\u00e3o vastos quanto o interior que reconstru\u00edmos e o horizonte que contemplamos no sentido do futuro.<\/p>\n

Aqui, a arquitectura n\u00e3o \u00e9 apenas um erguer de pedra, mas uma rendi\u00e7\u00e3o. De tudo aquilo que \u00e9 abrupto no mundo e que pode escolher o lado sombra, h\u00e1 uma sobreposi\u00e7\u00e3o da \u00e1gua leve e fluida sobre a falta de veludo e clareza da pedra. E se as termas de Vals s\u00e3o uma experi\u00eancia que nos transforma, seja nas horas do nascer do sol, seja nas horas em que o SPA abre depois da meia-noite, para escutarmos sem vis\u00e3o o sil\u00eancio da montanha, miss\u00e3o \u00e9 clara. A n\u00e3o resposta do impercept\u00edvel \u00e9 respondida pela exist\u00eancia de um sentido maior do extraordin\u00e1rio, que acaba sempre por nos reencontrar espiritualmente e religar ao essencial.<\/p>\n

To rest, the 7132 Hotel elevates the sleeping experience to a journey of pure contemplation. The suites, designed by masters such as Kengo Kuma, Thom Mayne and Tadao Ando, are spaces that balance comfort with monastic simplicity. For the more intense, there’s also the bedroom designed by Zumthor, but that would be too red for me.<\/em><\/p>\n

The floor-to-ceiling windows invite the Alpine landscape in, as if each sunrise were painted exclusively for us, world travellers looking for something meaningful in this world that seems to be collapsing. The natural materials, the smooth lines and the harmony between the interior and the landscape make each room a personal retreat where the word luxury – increasingly inappropriate – meets serenity.<\/em><\/p>\n

Hotel 7132 is not just a stopover address. It is an invitation to reflect and lose ourselves in experiences that honour the sense of beauty, to rediscover what is essential and to discover that, in the middle of the mountains, we are as vast as the interior we have rebuilt and the horizon we contemplate towards the future.<\/em><\/p>\n

Here, architecture is not just the erection of stone, but a surrender. Of all that is abrupt in the world and that can choose the shadow side, there is a superimposition of light and flowing water over the lack of velvet and clarity of stone. And if the Vals thermal baths are an experience that transforms us, whether at sunrise or when the spa opens after midnight, to listen without sight to the silence of the mountain, the mission is clear. The non-responsiveness of the imperceptible is answered by the existence of a greater sense of the extraordinary, which always ends up finding us spiritually and reconnecting us to the essential.<\/em><\/p>\n
